ASHNHA Partners with the Alaska Area Health Education Centers. Their new website has many continuing education opportunities.
This workshop will help Centers prepare to make necessary changes to comply with the new Requirement of Participation (RoP) that will be enforced in three phases (starting Nov 28th 2016, Nov 2017 and Nov 2019). This workshop will include a mix of didactic presentations and multiple interactive exercises using material brought by attendees from their Centers to help Center’s start to make changes they need to comply with RoP enforced in phase I and II. The session will also include significant time for group discussion and a review of available resources and tools.
ASHNHA sponsored a full day meeting on Clinically Integrated Networks (CIN) in Juneau on July 11. Consultant Peter Wood spent the day helping to increase knowledge of clinically integrated networks/accountable care organizations and how they might benefit hospitals and physicians in Alaska.
This program is designed for physicians who serve in Medical Staff leadership positions in hospitals. In June 2014 ASHNHA sponsored a Horty Springer conference for physician leaders in Anchorage Alaska. The program centered on credentialing issues and developing best practices relating to initial appointment, reappointment, and clinical privileges. It also covered identifying and managing the variety of peer review issues that confront physicians in their roles as leaders.

ASHNHA has contracted with HC Pro to provide a custom agenda to meet the needs of Alaska PPS and Critical Access Hospital needs by organizing a Medicare Boot Camp in Alaska. Many hospitals send staff out of state to attend the Medicare boot camp training. This opportunity allows hospitals to keep people in Alaska, reducing travel time and training cost, and promote networking and collaboration among finance/revenue cycle staff in Alaska.
The training is an intensive course on Medicare coverage, billing, coding, and payment. It gives staff the knowledge and tools to find the answers to pressing Medicare reimbursement questions. The training incorporates 2014 changes to the IPPS and OPPS rules and ensures staff understands how to implement the new regulatory guidance. See a detailed training agenda here and training objectives and features.
Our February training in Anchorage is full, however, we hope to coordinate future trainings for hospital staff. Please contact Debbie at [email protected] if you are interested in attending one of our future trainings or call 907-586-1790.
ASHNHA partners with the Colorado Rural Health Center to offer Swing Bed webinar trainings and manuals. If you are interested in registering for any of the webinars please contact Debbie at [email protected]
