Education & Training
ASHNHA offers a variety of educational opportunities to support the needs of hospitals and nursing homes. If you have a specific unmet education need contact us.
ASHNHA Education and Training Opportunities
This program is designed for physicians who serve in Medical Staff leadership positions in hospitals. ASHNHA sponsors Horty Springer conferences for physician leaders in Anchorage every other year. The program is often centered on credentialing issues and developing best practices relating to initial appointment, reappointment, and clinical privileges. It covers identifying and managing the variety of peer review issues that confront physicians in their roles as leaders.
Medicare Boot Camp & Clinical Documentation Training
ASHNHA has contracted with HC-Pro to provide a custom agenda to meet the needs of Alaska PPS and Critical Access Hospital needs by organizing a variety of Medicare Boot Camps in Alaska. Many hospitals send staff out of state to attend Medicare Boot Camp, Clinical Documentation, and Clinical Documentation for Quality training. These opportunities allow hospitals to keep people in Alaska, reducing travel time and training cost, and promote networking and collaboration among finance/revenue cycle staff in Alaska. Please contact the ASHNHA team if you are interested in co-sponsoring a training in Alaska this year.
Swing Bed Webinar Series
ASHNHA partners with the Colorado Rural Health Center to offer annual swing bed webinar training and manuals. The webinars and recordings are offered every April. These webinars and manuals are updated annually and supported with Flex funds to Alaska CAHs.
Workplace Violence Training
ASHNHA is partnering with University of Washington to provide a workplace violence training for hospital staff in April 2020. ASHNHA has resources on the Workplace Violence Prevention.
ASHNHA partnered with Outcome Engenuity to sponsor a Just Culture training in Anchorage in 2018. Possible future Just Culture training will be available depending on interest.
ASHNHA has partnered with the Nebraska Coalition for Patient Safety on Master TeamSTEPPS training.
